Parking in Kristiansand
Parking in Kristiansand is run by the municipality's Parking Unit, which has now launched its own fee-free app «Parkering Kristiansand» – the price is the same as at the machine, with no surcharge. From 23 March 2026 you can no longer pay with cash at the municipal machines. The centre has a maximum stay of 1–3 hours at street level; for longer stays, choose municipal Gyldengården or Slottet, or private Markens and Elvegata car parks.

Resident parking
Residential zone parking is run by the municipality. Residents, businesses and relatives on social/medical grounds can be granted an agreement where there is no parking on their own property. Processing time about three weeks. Full administration in the «Parkering Kristiansand» app is announced during 2026.

Free parking
On-street parking in Kristiansand is normally free in the evening, at night and on Sundays and public holidays — but the charging hours are set by the municipality and shown on the sign, so always check the signs. Car parks and garages usually charge around the clock. The most reliable free options are park-and-ride sites and time-limited parking-disc spaces.
- Parking in residential zones is free for disabled-card holders (including visitors)
- At Eventyrgården there is no maximum stay, but the 40 kr/hour charge applies 24 hours a day.
- Shopping centres in and around the city usually have free customer parking – check the signs
- Street parking in Kvadraturen is normally free on Sundays unless signs state otherwise.
- At Høllen pier, the first two hours are free during the seasonal charging period; then the price is 22 kr/hour.
EV charging and parking
EVs pay the ordinary parking charge on equal terms with other vehicles. Charging and parking are paid for separately – follow the signs.
Electric and hydrogen cars now normally pay the ordinary charge on municipal parking. There is no national free-or-discount rule — each municipality decides for itself whether to grant an exemption (Parking Regulations § 34), and more and more charge the full price. Check locally.

Disabled parking
People with reduced mobility and a valid parking permit park free in residential zones. In charged spaces the ordinary disabled-parking rules apply – check the signs.

Motorhome parking
Allowed: Kongsgård motorhome parking at Ægirs vei 12 is the municipality's designated 24-hour motorhome site with electricity, water, emptying station and Wi-Fi.
Relevant locations:
- Kongsgård motorhome parking: 32 kr/hour or 320 kr/day in the summer season 1 March–31 October.
- Winter season 1 November–28 February: 16 kr/hour, 160 kr/day, 1,500 kr/month or 4,500 kr for the full season.
The charge applies 24 hours and there is no maximum stay. In summer, pay at the machine or with an app. Winter hourly and daily rates are paid with Parkering Kristiansand, EasyPark or Parklink; long-stay products are bought in Parkering Kristiansand. Electricity is activated and paid separately in the Camp Booking app.
