Resident parking
You must be registered at an address in the zone, and the dwelling must have been built before 1965. Each dwelling may apply for up to three vehicles. Applicants must normally own or co-own the vehicle; documented exceptions include leasing and company cars. The agreement does not provide an allocated space and is not valid in paid spaces, pedestrian-priority streets or where other rules or signs apply.

On-street parking in Stavanger is normally free in the evening, at night and on Sundays and public holidays — but the charging hours are set by the municipality and shown on the sign, so always check the signs. Car parks and garages usually charge around the clock. The most reliable free options are park-and-ride sites and time-limited parking-disc spaces.
- Free evenings, nights and Sundays on-street: Municipal on-street parking is charged Monday–Friday 08:00–20:00 and Saturday 08:00–16:00 — it is free outside these times and all day on Sundays and public holidays. Note that parking garages charge around the clock every day, as does on-street parking along the harbour.
- Short-stay spaces in the town centre: Several short-stay spaces in Stavanger town centre are generally free. Follow the signs for the time limit at each space.
EV charging and parking
EVs pay the regular charge in Stavanger Parkering spaces — there is no EV discount. Stavanger Parkering has dedicated charging bays in several garages; check signs or the price list for charging prices.
