Parking in Drammen
The charging hours for on-street parking in central Drammen are weekdays 08–20 and Saturday 09–18. The municipal car parks are meant to be clearly cheaper than on-street parking, with a maximum price per day. Drammen has ended the half-price scheme for EVs – from 1 July 2023, EVs and hydrogen cars pay the ordinary rate, including for a residential zone parking permit. Residential zone parking has its own annual prices, and residents can also buy a visitor card. Centrally there are several car parks, both municipal (Dpark) and private (APCOA).

Resident parking
Residential zone parking applies in five residential zones in central Drammen: B01 Nedre Bragernes, B02 Konggata sør, B04 Bragernes, S01 Nybyen and S02 Nybyen. Prices from 1 January 2026: car 1: 4,044 kr/year (337 kr/month), car 2: 4,776 kr/year and car 3: 5,544 kr/year. Visitor permits: weekly permit 371 kr, day permit 96 kr and 5-hour permit 51 kr. The permit is linked to the registration number and does not entitle the holder to a dedicated or guaranteed space.

Free parking
On-street parking in Drammen is normally free in the evening, at night and on Sundays and public holidays — but the charging hours are set by the municipality and shown on the sign, so always check the signs. Car parks and garages usually charge around the clock. The most reliable free options are park-and-ride sites and time-limited parking-disc spaces.

EV charging and parking
The half-price scheme for EVs on municipal on-street parking was ended on 1 July 2023; EVs and hydrogen cars pay the ordinary rate, including for a residential zone parking permit and resident parking. The municipality has public charging bays at, among others, Tinghustomta, Jernbanegata by Bybrua, Høytorget and Griffenfelds gate, plus charging points in the municipal car parks Blichs gate, Grev Wedel and Thams gate. You pay for the electricity via EasyPark in addition to the ordinary parking charge during charging hours.
Electric and hydrogen cars now normally pay the ordinary charge on municipal parking. There is no national free-or-discount rule — each municipality decides for itself whether to grant an exemption (Parking Regulations § 34), and more and more charge the full price. Check locally.
