Payment: parking machine and app
Machine or mobile: the rule is the same. Pay immediately and make sure the payment applies where you are parked.
At a charged parking space, payment must be made immediately after parking (Parking Regulations section 31). Where both are available, choose a machine or app, but you remain responsible for ensuring payment applies to the correct space, zone and period.
Parking machines
At a machine you buy a ticket for the required time. Where a paper ticket is required, it must be clearly visible behind the windscreen. Payment and visible display are separate conditions: a hidden or upside-down ticket can still lead to a control sanction. Newer ticketless machines link payment to the registration number instead, so always read the machine.
Payment by app
Apps such as EasyPark, Aimo Park or APCOA Flow link payment to the registration number, so no paper ticket is needed. Two things must be correct: the zone code for the exact location and the registration number. A wrong code or plate means the payment does not cover the space where you are parked. Check that the session is active in the right zone, and remember to end it when you leave.
Common avoidable mistakes
- A ticket is not visible where paper display is required.
- The app uses the wrong zone code.
- The app contains an incorrect or old registration number.
- Payment starts too late.
Each can lead to an ordinary control sanction of 660 kr, even when you intended to pay. A receipt proving valid payment for the correct place and period is, however, useful in an appeal.
In short: pay immediately, use the correct zone and registration number, and display a paper ticket where required. At free spaces with a time limit, use a parking disc instead.
