Alta Municipality has around 700 parking spaces in the centre, and almost all the municipal spaces are charged. The charging hours are weekdays 10–20 and Saturdays 10–18, with an hourly price of 35 kr. On red days and public holidays it is free at the municipal spaces. Free parking
On-street parking in Alta is normally free in the evening, at night and on Sundays and public holidays — but the charging hours are set by the municipality and shown on the sign, so always check the signs. Car parks and garages usually charge around the clock. The most reliable free options are park-and-ride sites and time-limited parking-disc spaces.

- Alta Airport allows drive-through for up to 10 minutes. If the time is exceeded, charges are calculated from entry.
EV charging and parking
EVs and hydrogen cars pay the full parking charge at municipal spaces. Thon Senter Alta has six charging points on level 1, two rapid and four standard. The 37 kr/hour parking charge or max. 220 kr/day also applies at charging bays, in addition to any charging price. Always check the operator's charging terms before starting.
Electric and hydrogen cars now normally pay the ordinary charge on municipal parking. There is no national free-or-discount rule — each municipality decides for itself whether to grant an exemption (Parking Regulations § 34), and more and more charge the full price. Check locally.

Disabled parking
A valid disabled parking permit gives access to reserved public disabled bays and free parking beyond the ordinary maximum time at publicly regulated paid spaces. Use the permit in accordance with signs. Private facilities may have different rules: Thon Senter Alta expressly states that its 12 disabled bays are also charged.

Motorhome parking
Allowed: Alta Båtforening offers motorhome and caravan parking by the small-boat harbour in Bukta.

- Alta Båtforening, Malmveien 18: 300 kr per day including electricity, Wi-Fi and toilet facilities.
Booking and payment are made in GoMarina. The service room has a shower, toilet, washing machine and tumble dryer. Shower, washing machine and tumble dryer cost 50 kr per use. This is a private service; check the current terms in the app.
