Resident parking in inner Oslo costs NOK 3,850 per year for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars in 2026, and NOK 1,300 for EVs. It is free for private residents in outer Oslo.

Inner Oslo includes Frogner, St. Hanshaugen, Gamle Oslo, Grünerløkka and Sagene. Outer Oslo includes Ullern, Nordre Aker, Alna, Stovner, Bjerke and Vestre Aker. Check the municipality’s zone map before applying.
Who can apply?
You normally need to be registered at an address within a resident-parking area and own or co-own the vehicle. Students, commuters and military personnel can use documented residence. Leased cars, company cars and cars you borrow privately require documentation. Hydrogen cars, electric vans and holders of disabled parking permits do not need a permit to park free in resident-parking spaces.
How to apply
Apply through Oslo municipality’s application page. Keep your registration number ready and upload documentation if necessary. The digital permit becomes active once approved and paid.
Visitor parking
Visitors can park for a charge in resident zones. In inner Oslo, one hour costs NOK 69 for petrol/hybrid and NOK 35 for EVs; in outer Oslo it costs NOK 40 and NOK 20. Charges normally apply Monday–Saturday, 09:00–20:00. Always follow local signs.
